Although the OPCC is not a commercial organisation and is therefore not required under Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 to make an annual modern slavery statement, the PCC is making a voluntary statement to show his and the OPCC’s commitment to ethical trading principles and to set out the steps we are taking to tackle modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and in our supply chains.

1. Background information
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire (OPCC) has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery within the business or our supply chain.
The OPCC considers the obligations placed on commercial organisations under section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 vital in combating modern slavery and human trafficking. Although we are not a commercial organisation and are therefore not required under the Act to make a modern slavery statement, we are making this voluntary statement to show our commitment to ethical trading principles and to set out the steps we are taking to tackle modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and in our supply chains.

Comments from the Chief Finance Officer
This statement outlines how the OPCC will operate in respect of ethical trading and modern slavery issues. To help identify and monitor these risks in our supply chains, due diligence activity is undertaken when embarking on a procurement process to seek assurance from potential suppliers regarding their practises.
Strengthening of the terms and conditions regarding modern slavery and ethical labour practices, will also be introduced for future commissioned services and for PCC grant awards as a further system of vetting and obligating service providers.
The PCC is committed to acting ethically and transparently in all its business dealings and if required, steps will be taken to address any issues if they arise.
