May 2024 – holding to account summary

The below highlights hold to account topics that have been raised in May 2024 as part of the PCC function to hold to account.

PCC questions raised in meetings with the Chief Constable:

  • Trust and Confidence, and engagement with communities
  • Criminal Justice matters including prison capacity, Early Prison Release, Operations Safeguard and Early Dawn, case file quality, Custody resourcing and working with partners
  • HMICFRS Inspection of Serious and Organised Crime (insert link), and the Warwickshire Police action plan
  • Health and Wellbeing matters including mental health issues, sickness levels
  • Hunting – plans for the review of force activities
  • Contacting Warwickshire Police, including how suicidal callers are supported, the latest update on technology improvements (including call back assist)
  • Protocols for contacting the PCC when serious incidents or matters of high public concern occur
  • Statistics around crime detection and outcomes and how the force will communicate these to residents
  • Use of retrospective facial recognition and potential for future use of live facial recognition.
  • Right Care, Right Person, and partnership working specifically with Health
  • Protocols between Police Helicopters and Drones
  • Use of Appropriate Adults in Force Custody Suites and training of custody staff
  • Processes for addressing Freedom of Information Requests
